Why Choose Digital Scrapbooking?
Is it really possible to help the environment by creating digital scrapbooks? The answer is yes. With the newer energy star rated electronics, computers have comeĀ a long way not to mention all of the paper waste that is associated with traditional scrapbooking.
It’s an unavoidable fact of life for most of us that we have to go to the store and purchase things. However, we not only put emissions from our vehicle into the atmosphere going to and from, but the scrapbooking industry does not (to my knowledge) use recycled paper for their products.
Did you know that the average American uses about 7 trees per year? Given the current population, that would be around 2,000,000,000 trees a year. Can you imagine?! Recycling paper uses less energy, oil, water, and landfill space than it does to make it brand new. Not to mention the lakes, rivers and streams that could be saved from erosion and pesticide run-off that occurs when trees are cut down which in turn affects the wildlife and our drinking water. As you can see, recycling is great but, why not take it a step further!
Now if you are a paper scrapbooker, or if you have never scrapbooked before and are looking for a way to be environmentally conscious and save some money at the same time, doesn’t it make sense to go digital? Even learning the hybrid way can save more than just using traditional scrapbooking supplies to preserve your memories with scrapbook pages.
Why SaveTheGreen?
If you do a search on the internet to learn digital scrapbooking, you will find many, I found 697,000. The problem is that most (if not all) of them teach you using expensive programs like Photoshop, Photoshop Elements and Illustrator from Adobe, or Paint Shop Pro from Corel. Up until now, the only other option was to download a scrapbooking specific program such as Scrapbook Max and use the premade templates, papers and elements that come with it. These programs can be confusing and honestly, not much to be truly creative with.
Using free software, we can take you by the hand and teach you how to make your own fabulous layouts where you have total creative control to make it look how you like. If you have a digital camera, you can use your digital photographs or you can scan all those pictures you have in a shoe box sitting in the back of the closet.
